Gardeners Cottage, Harrogate

This large walled garden, once rich in tradition and history but having lost its original purpose, has been given new life. Collaborating closely with our clients, we transformed the space into a garden that seamlessly blends tradition, character, family living, and beauty.
Honouring the heritage of the original formal parterre, the garden embraces a more formal design near the house, with herbaceous borders and strong architectural lines. Making the best of the gardens desire lines, structure continues in the form of dynamic sculpture, archways, a wide natural stone terrace and open sided pergola to enjoy views out into the garden.
The space gradually transitions into a flowing diverse orchard and meadow, punctuated by roses and ornamental trees, creating a soft romantic feel to the end of the garden.

Combining naturalistic design with classic cottage garden perennials, creating a, dynamic mix of purples, pinks, whites, and golden grasses. This evolving palette provides year-round interest, perfectly complementing the strong architecture of the central archway and garden walls beyond.
